SAFETY HARBOR The Talent Quest
Sunshine State 2011 season officially got
underway with the local finals at Grind
House on Sunday, Jan. 30. A packed
restaurant brought out singers in all
categories and unleashed the first rush of
qualified singers for the April 7-10
Regional Finals at the Double Tree
Westshore Hotel in Tampa.
"We've done these contests for a few
years now," head judge and contest
co-owner Phil Garris told the crowd, "and
it's rare that we can say that we didn't
have any bad singers. Everyone here can
sing."
Garris encouraged those who didn't
qualify to continue pursuing qualifying
venues and directed them to the VENUE

page on this website. As of this contest, Talent Quest Sunshine State has 14 venues qualifying singers across the
state. The goal for 2011 is to have 18-20 venues. Details on those additional locations will be released soon.
The largest category in Sunday's competition was in Women's Pop, which has been the norm during last year's
inaugural Talent Quest Sunshine State season as well. Names of all the qualified singers are on the "Qualifiers" page
of this site.
"We're back at it and I don't think we could be more excited," said show emcee and contest co-owner Steve
Blanchard. "Talent Quest Sunshine State is still young-this is only our second year-but we're already growing and it
was so good to see some familiar faces returning from last year. I think and hope that our contestants will notice the
improvements and adjustments we've made for 2011."
The regional finals for Talent Quest Sunshine State are April 7-10 at the Double Tree Westhore Hotel in Tampa.
