| Once again, Talent Quest Sunshine State will implement a DUETS CATEGORY at the Regional Finals April 7-10 at the DoubleTree Westshore Hotel in Tampa. The category is a competition for a cash prize only and does not qualify its winners for a trip to the Talent Quest National finals in Laughlin, Nev. 1st Place $1,000 and $2,000 in prizes 2nd Place $500 and $2,000 in prizes 3rd Place $250 and $2,000 in prizes 4th Place $2,000 in prizes 5th Place $2,000 in prizes 6th-10th Place $150 in prizes Since the DUETS CATEGORY is a separate entity from the others, a few things are run differently in order for the competition to take place and for it to be funded properly: 1. In order for the competition to take place, a minimum of 20 acts are required to register in the competition. If less than 20 acts are registered by April 7, 2011, money will be refunded to those who did register and the category will be cancelled. 2. Since this is a cash-prize category, singers must pay to compete. Singers who have already qualified in another TQSS category must pay $50 on or before registration at the regional finals. Non-qualified singers may compete but must pay $75 to do so by April 7. (Each singer must pay to compete.) 3. Singers can only be a part of one duet. (IE, singers may not sing one song with one person and then perform a second, separate duet with another person.) 4. Duets may me male/male, female/female, or male/female. 5. Registered duet acts will be guaranteed two preliminary performances, one on Friday, April 8 and the other on Saturday, April 9. 6. The Top 10 Duet acts will perform during the Finals on Sunday, April 10. 7. Contestants will be judged on the same criteria as the other categories. (Vocals, stage presence and appearance). 8. All contestants must be 21 years of age or older by September 2011. 9. Duet acts will be assigned contestant numbers. If a participant is in multiple categories, this number will be different than that person's other contestant numbers. |
