| Crowd packs Bambusa while masters dominate Naples final |
NAPLES It was standing room only at
the very packed Bambusa Bar on
Friday, March 18, as Talent Quest
Sunshine State searched for more
qualifying singers at the venue's
local final.
The largest categories by far were in
Masters-but that didn't mean talent
didn't show up across the board.
"This is one of the best run local
finals of the year," said Phil Garris,
contest co-owner and head judge.
"Just watching people sign in, we
knew we were in for a great show."
This is the first year Naples has had
a venue for Talent Quest Sunshine
State and the talent didn't disappoint

"One of the greatest things about my job as emcee is I can see the judges faces while they're watching
performers," said Steve Blanchard, who is also an owner of the contest. "There were several times I
could see them fighting to control their smiles when some of these singers hit the big notes. I think that
says a lot right there."
In all, the judges chose to take 24 songs onto the Talent Quest Sunshine State Regional Finals, which
are April 7-10 at the Double Tree Westshore Hotel in Tampa. There were only a few contestants who
advanced in multiple categories.
"The talent was out tonight and we had a lot of singers score above 100 points, which is phenomenal,"
said Garris. "It's going to be a dog fight in Tampa and Naples has a really great shot of securing several
spots in the Top Ten of just about every category!"
