New faces dominate Lakeland local final
 LAKELAND Country music dominated the
local finals for first-time venue Doc's Place
during an afternoon local final on March 5.
Men's country was the largest category
followed closely by a packed women's
country division. The smallest categories
were men's and women's masters.
"We heard there is a lot of talent here
today," head judge and contest co-owner
Phil Garris told the crowd before the
competition. I hope we heard right!"
Several stand outs took the stage and had
the judges nodding along with the music.
There were a few familiar faces from
previous Talent Quest events, but mostly
the participants were new to the
competition.
"I get excited when we have new people
come on board for the competition," said emcee and contest co-owner Steve Blanchard. "I love the look
on their face-especially after they qualify-when they realize just how big of a competition this is. You can
tell they know its time to step up their game."
In all, 19 performances advanced through to the Talent Quest Sunshine State regional finals, which are
April 7-10 at the Double Tree Westshore Hotel in downtown Tampa. Tickets for non-competitors are
available on our "Tickets" link above and a Regional Schedule is also linked at the top of this page.
