ABOUT US
Talent Quest Sunshine State was launched in early summer 2009 to serve a growing need for more Talent
Quest-affiliated competitions in the State of Florida.

Owners Phil Garris and Steve Blanchard, who have also own Talent Quest Florida, found that restaurants, bars,
hotels and other karaoke-friendly venues across the state were attracted to the Talent Quest competition. However,
space was limited for the Talent Quest Florida competition, so Garris and Blanchard met that need by creating
Sunshine State.

In its first year, Talent Quest Sunshine State had 11 venues participating from throughout Florida. Each of those
venues held weekly competitions and selected their best singers before the official Talent Quest Sunshine State
crew came in with an emcee and judges to take the best singers onto the regional competition.

In its first year, Talent Quest Sunshine State produced two singers who placed in the Top 5 of their category at
nationals and many others who competed and placed in the Top 20.

At the regional Talent Quest Sunshine State finals, the top male and female singers from each category will earn a
paid trip to Laughlin, Nev., where they will compete on the national stage. While the same people own Talent Quest
Sunshine State also own Talent Quest Florida, the two competitions are completely separate entities and the
outcome of one competition does not affect the other.
